Alex Box studied and exhibited as an installation artist before training to become a make-up artist, her main focus being on the relationship between bodies and the environment. As a make-up artist, she went on to explore this relationship, fusing art, science, nature and the magical for designers such as Gareth Pugh, Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Chanel. She is also a regular contributor to Vogue, Numéro, i-D, Dazed and Confused, AnOther Magazine and V.
Alex is known for pushing and blurring the boundaries between technology, art, and commerce with both visionary digital collaborations and as the creative director and co-founder of cult cosmetics line Illamasqua, shaping and creating the brand’s image and products from conception.
